Akwa Ibom discharges three out of their five COVID-19 cases

Akwa Ibom State has announced that it has discharged three out of the five patients who were tested positive to coronavirus in Akwa Ibom State

According to reports, the three patients have been confirmed negative and discharged from the Isolation centre.

The State Commissioner for Health, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Dominic Ukpong who announced their discharge said the three former COVID-19 patients came out negative through a confirmation test.

Dr Dominic disclosed this while addressing newsmen shortly before the patients were discharged at Ibom Specialist Hospital on Wednesday.

He said one more person who had shown symptoms of COVID-19, however, tested negative will also be discharged soon.

This brings the total number of patients to be discharged to four.

“Altogether we had nine persons in the isolation unit three of the persons we are discharging today are from the initial 5 index cases. Others were suspected cases whose test results came out negative,” He said.

“Akwa Ibom State now has 3 confirmed positive cases, two from the initial 5 index cases, and one case as announced by the NCDC last night,” he said.
