Amotekun corps arrests another 10 Chinese, others for illegal mining in Osun

The Osun State branch of Amotekun has arrested another 10 Chinese, 1 Ghanaian and three locals for illegal mining across the state.

According to reports, the ‘expatriates’ were captured on Tuesday, 19th May at four illegal mining sites in Atakunmosa West local government area of Osun state.

The Nation reported that the suspects raided four illegal mining sites; Itagunmodi, Igun and Ariye 1&2.

The Amotekun corps in collaboration with the State Joint Task Force (JTF) carried out the operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.

The raid by the security agencies lasted for two hours at the four illegal mining sites.

Speaking with newsmen in Osogbohe, the Director-General of Amotekun, Osun State, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, said the raid was part of the dedication of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration to clear the state of economic saboteurs.

“Those that were arrested are eleven expatriates, including 10 Chinese and 1 Ghanaian as well as three locals,” he said.

Shittu went on to commend the JTF which includes Nigerian Army, Air force, Navy, Police, DSS, NSCDC and Immigration for cooperating with Amotekun corps to make the raid a success.
