Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, has tested positive for coronavirus. As a result, the London Colney training centre has been closed.

The North London Club confirmed this unfortunate news via a statement on its official website titled “Our London Colney training centre has been closed after head coach Mikel Arteta received a positive COVID-19 result this evening.”

The health status of Arsenal players and managers became of grave concern after it was clear Olympiacos’ owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who also recently tested positive made close contacts with them about 2 weeks ago. As such, their Wednesday fixture against Manchester City was postponed.

With the head coach now testing positive, the Managing director of the club Vinai Venkatesham has announced that the health of the wider public is Arsenal’s priority and focus.

Meanwhile, the club revealed the head coach is disappointed at the news and is hoping to recover as soon as possible.

“This is really disappointing but I took the test after feeling poorly. I will be at work as soon as I’m allowed,” Arsenal FC quoted Arteta as saying.

Currently, efforts are being made on tracking all the persons who have had close contacts with Mikel in order to advice them to self-isolate.
