President Buhari Orders Total Lockdown of Kano for two weeks with immediate effect

The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has this evening announced the enforcement of total lockdown on Kano State.

Also, he revealed that the government will deploy all necessary resources to support the state in containing the deadly bug.

“With regards to Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately,” the president said in the speech obtained by NaijaHomeBased.

“The Federal Government shall deploy all the necessary human, material and technical resources to support the State in controlling and containing the pandemic and preventing the risk of further spread to neighbouring States,” he added.

Residents in Kano were already very worried after an alleged increase in the number of strange deaths.

Prior to the president’s declaration, Ganduje had controversially relaxed the lockdown to allow residents ‘shop for ramadan’.

In the broadcast which aired around 8:00 pm, he, however, disclosed that the lockdown of Lagos, Ogun, and the FCT, which has been on for weeks now, will last till May 2nd. From then on, there will be a partial lockdown.
