There was a sudden spike in the demand for chloroquine as soon as President Trump wrongly stated that the CDC had approved it for treating coronavirus.

The CDC subsequently came out to debunk that claiming, stating that they only approved it for trial.

Nevertheless, several people are still spreading the rumour that the drug is effective and have been buying it in bulk.

“Please remember that the use of chloroquine and its derivatives for the management of coronavirus disease has NOT been validated and approved,” the NCDC wrote in a tweet.

“Self-medication can cause harm and lead to death. Do not misuse drugs.”

Currently, the NCDC has confirmed 46 coronavirus cases nationwide.

In another developing story, the Prince of Wales and Heir Apparent to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, has tested positive to coronavirus.
