Covid-19: 165 arrested for violating curfew in Kaduna

Security operatives in Kaduna state have apprehended 165 persons in the state for disobeying the curfew that the state government imposed as part of measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19.

Following the continuous spread of the novel coronavirus in Nigeria, several states have imposed a ban on movements in a bid to stop the spread of the virus. Kaduna state is among one of such states.

The Kaduna state police command disclosed this yesterday, the command revealed that 205 vehicles, including tricycles, were impounded

The Nation reported that the Police spokesman Mohammed Jalige confirmed this in a statement.

Jalige, an Assistant Superintendent, said, “The operatives of the Command in collaboration with other security agencies have in the course of enforcement, arrested 165 people and impounded 205 motor vehicles/tricycles.

He went on, “two clerics who violated the curfew and social distancing order were being interrogated at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

“The suspects will be prosecuted immediately on the completion of the investigation,” he said.

“The Commissioner of Police U.M. Muri enjoins the general public to be law-abiding, observe the safety tips and continue to comply with the curfew and the social distancing orders aimed at enhancing public safety and public health,” he added.
