‘Distribution has not started’ – Reps deny they’ve started sharing their exotic cars

Today, several angry reactions greeted the news that members of the House of Representatives were distributing exotic cars worth over N10 million each amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, a source has now denied the claim, saying ‘the actual distribution has not started’ yet.

According to him, some of the Toyota Camry 2020 they ordered have arrived and some members of the House of Representatives have received notifications to get ready to ‘pick up their cars’.

“it is not true that the House has started distributing the cars,” The Nation quoted their source as saying.

“Yes, some of them have been delivered and some lawmakers have been informed to be prepared to pick their own.

“The actual distribution has not started.”

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives condemned the viral report in strong terms, saying it does not reflect the truth about its effort to support Nigerians during these trying times.

“It has come to the attention of the House of Representatives that a newspaper report on Friday, March 27, 2020, had insinuated that the Green Chamber is distributing official vehicles for the 360 members of the House at this critical moment that the country is battling to contain the Covid-19 pandemic,” The house wrote in a press release.

“This story is rather unfortunate at this time that Nigeria and Nigerians are striving hard to address the pandemic that has forced the Federal Government, and even the various states’ governments, to take drastic measures,”

“As a House, we are not unmindful of the mood of the nation, we are committed to ensuring the country stands united in these trying times,” Part of the statement read.
