Don’t because of Hushpuppi judge Nigerians succeeding abroad – Abike Dabiri-Erewa

Chairman of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has reacted to the arrest of Ray Hushpuppi for alleged fraud.

Raymond Igbalode, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi, was arrested last week for offenses bordering on Fraud. Prior to his arrest, he had a large fan base on Instagram, with many people looking up to him.

According to Abike, the allegations against Hushpuppi is not a yardstick to judge Nigerians excelling abroad. 

“The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission notes with displeasure, the cybercrime and money laundering network/transaction running into millions of dollars allegedly exhibited by Ramoni Igbalode aka Ray Hushpuppi,” the NDC had earlier written.

“We await @officialEFCC’s further and thorough investigation as well as further updates on the case.

“We advise and urge Nigerians abroad to be law-abiding citizens, be good ambassadors and not tarnish the image of the country.”

In response, Abike Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians abroad to be law-abiding citizens, good ambassadors and not tarnish the image of the country.

However, she urged people not to judge goodwill Nigerians because of ‘one bad apple.’

“Allegations against Ramoni Igbalode a k a Hushpuppi running into millions in fraud. I stress again, not a yardstick to judge Nigerians excelling abroad. One bad apple should indeed not spoil the whole bunch,” she wrote.

Hushpuppi was known for showing off a lavish lifestyle, leading Nigerians to question him for that despite knowing his hands are dirty.

Meanwhile, he has not been found guilty of the charges leveled against him.

Earlier, Nigerian singer RudeBoy took to his Instagram page to lash out at people who show off their ill-gotten wealth online.
