DSS Drags man to court Over Facebook Post against Osun Assembly Speaker

A certain Joshua Sayo Oki who is a resident of Osun State has been arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court after he allegedly made a Facebook post criticizing the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye.

Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned the 48-year-old Joshua for publishing a post that allegedly embarrassed the politician on June 19, 2020.

According to the prosecutor, Mr. Boo Nweke, the accused committed an offense contrary to Section 374(1)b & 374 and punishable under Section 375 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

However, Mr. Oki pleaded not guilty to any of the allegations during the first court hearing on Monday.

His legal counsel has now applied for bail which has now been granted by the Magistrate, Modupe Awodele.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned till 14th of July 2020, according to the Daily Trust.

The Magistrate granted the accused a bail bond in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
