The health commissioner of Enugu State, Prof. Anthony Ugochukwu, has died after battling an undisclosed sickness for a long time.
The renowned surgeon reportedly passed away on Friday night, 3 April 2020, at Memphys Hospital, Enugu.
“he is a great loss to both Enugu state and Nigeria,” The Nation Nigeria quoted Hon. Jeff Mbah who confirmed his death as saying.
“We are talking about a renowned Professor of Surgeon who has a lot to offer in turning around out health sector. Its a terrible blow.”
Jeff Mbah who is a member of the Enugu House of Assembly revealed that Anthony Ugochukwu recently returned from the United States.
The sad news of Professor Anthony Ugochukwu’s passing is coming at a time of national crisis, where the nation is fighting hard to prevent an overwhelming spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the cause of his death has not been disclosed.
