Father of an 18-month-old son has been remanded in Ilesha Correctional Centre, Osun State for burning his son with cigarettes.

The man identified as Mayowa Adeyemo used cigarettes lights to mete out severe punishment to his son also beating the child with a stick.

The 32-year-old father, Mayowa Adeyemo was arraigned in a court sitting in Osun State on Tuesday, 16th of June 2020.

Mr Adeyemo pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges bothering on assault and exploitation.

The Police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, accused him of hitting the baby with a stick and burning him with a cigarette.

Speaking about his actions, the man disclosed that he has five children from five different wives.

The child who he had beaten was the child of his fourth wife who left him before she bore the child for him.

“I have five children from five different mothers. Several pastors I consulted told me that my mother was the one bewitching me,” he said.

“I am a taxi driver but things have not been fine for me. The son I assaulted with sticks is the son that my fourth wife bore for me.

“When his mother got pregnant, we got separated due to the insistence of her family that she should not marry me,” he added.
