The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure(NASENI) has produced the first made in Nigeria ventilators.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu

This development is meant to combat the deadly COVID-19 disease gradually spreading across the country.

Ventilator is a vital equipment handy in the treatment of coronavirus patients.

NASENI has equally produced mobile sprayers, which are to be used to disinfect Nigerian cities and homes.

According to a notice by NASENI spokesman, Segun Ayeoyenikan, on Monday, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, would unveil the devices on Tuesday (today).

Recall that Naijahomebased reported that the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Finance, recently begged for ventilators from an American billionaire.

As a result of the plea, Nigerians took to social media to react; they slammed the government for what they call a national embarrassment.

The Federal government, however, apologised for begging for the ventilators.

According to reports, Nigeria has no more than 500 ventilators, which may not be enough should the cases keep increasing.

The global nature of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced Nigerian leaders who contracted the disease to seek treatment in the country.
