Former EFCC staff gets 1-year jail sentence for stealing exhibits

One Mr Hussaina Abubakar, a former EFCC worker has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for stealing exhibits. According to the EFCC, the exhibit was meant for the investigation of a phone.

Hussaini Abubakar was sentenced to 1 year in prison for stealing an exhibit needed for the investigation of a crime.

Meanwhile, Hussaini Abubakar was offered an option to pay a fine of N150,000 only.

Justice S.C Amadi of the Rivers State High Court made the judgement on the defendant.

On that note, the EFCC took to their official Twitter handle to announce the court judgement.

The statement reads: “Justice S.C Amadi of the Rivers State High Court, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 convicted and sentenced Hussaini Abubakar, a former staff of the EFCC to one year imprisonment.

“Abubakar was also handed a N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira ) option of fine, for stealing, contrary to Section 383 (1) and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code CAP 37 vol. II Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999,” the EFCC added.
