The Executive Council of Imo State has praised Governor Hope Uzodinma for inspiring the state’s judges with car gifts.

At their Wednesday State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, the members said Uzodinma has shown the humanity in him and enthusiasm to provide leadership.

According to reports by The Nation, “The EXCO, therefore, gave their nod to the purchase and donation of 23 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for the judges; another one for the newly elected Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.”

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, who briefed newsmen after the meeting restated confirmed this.

He said that the idea of the car gifts was born out of the need to ‘motivate the judges and facilitate their job’.

Emelumba said they procured the vehicles at ₦22 million per vehicle.

According to him, the previous government had budgeted ₦37million per vehicle, so they have been able to save nearly ₦500 million from the cost of the 23 vehicles.

This means that the ‘Governor saved the state from unnecessary and frivolous financial waste’ by buying ₦22 million car each for the judges amidst the current Coronavirus crises.
