Nigerian actor Yul Edochi and son of Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has revealed that kneeling to propose doesn’t have anything to do with a woman leaving or disrespecting a man.
Recall that a few days ago, his father Pete made headlines after saying “any man who kneels to propose to a woman is an idiot”.
The veteran’s remarks have so far yielded mixed reactions from Nigerians. Yul Edochie, prior to the interview with Pulse Nigeria, didn’t really say anything to support or oppose his father. However, he reacted to a hilarious picture that trended regarding Pete Edochie’s statement.
Pulse’s One on One show hosted Yul, and as expected, the journalist asked him if he knelt to propose to his wife.
“I didn’t kneel because… well, I didn’t have to. My wife didn’t ask me to kneel for me to propose. We got married many years ago in 2004,” the actor revealed.
Apparently, he knew where the journalist was headed so he offered to explain in details.
“To a large extent, the man is right. You know, it’s not our culture. It is foreign for people to kneel. But it is really no big deal. It is not that serious. Whether you kneel down to propose or lie down to propose, it doesn’t change anything. A woman who is going to leave you would leave you. The woman who doesn’t respect you would not respect you and the one who loves you and respects you will be with you whether you kneel or you lie or you fly”.
