A young man attempted to commit suicide in the early hours of today February 27; however, he was saved by a log of wood.

Recall that just 2 weeks ago, a 22-year-old graduate of Lagos State University, Daibo Toju Davies, alighted from a vehicle and jumped into the Lagos Lagoon.

In the same vein, the young man who attempted suicide today alighted from a cab and jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on the Third Mainland bridge.

However, he ended up landing on a floating log of wood, which ultimately prevented him from drowning.

Subsequently, RRS officers helped rescue the man who according to the police sustained various degree of injuries.

The Lagos State Police Command said in a statement, “Last night RRS officers on 3MB helped rescue this man who attempted suicide by diving into the lagoon. He alighted from a call cab saying he wanted to urinate but jumped off the Bridge. Luckily he landed on the log of wood in the lagoon before being rescued to the hospital”.

Describing the incident, the cab driver who conveyed him said “I carried him from Igando and he insisted I pass through the Third Mainland Bridge. On getting to the bridge, he asked me whether this was Third Mainland Bridge and I answered yes. He told me that he was pressed and that I should wait for him to ease himself.”

Meanwhile, the driver was suspicious of his motives and drove him to the point where RRS officers where closeby.

I was curious. At this time, he was forcing me to wait. I stylishly drove him to the point where the RRS men were standing inward Lagos. I told him I was no longer interested in the trip before I approached the police officers leaving him inside the car,” he added.
