A man identified as Egwu Francis Emmanuel has beaten his wife, Mrs Ezinne, to a coma. The incident happened in Amachara community, Afikpo North, Ebonyi State.
Although he had beaten her until she lost consciousness, Mr Emmanuel did not feel any remorse.
Rather, he stood in front of the hospital threatening to continue beating her once she wakes up.
Naijahomebased spoke with a resident of the community who confirmed the incident.
According to an eyewitness, Mr Emmanuel is always beating his wife. Noting that this current incident is not the first of its kind.
The couple got married on December 24, 2015, and they have two children.
The eye witness noted that no one is willing to report him to the police because he is feared in the village and brags about his brother being a barrister.
The eye witness said: “This incidence is a repeated occurrence in the neighbourhood.
“Even the wife is afraid to run away from the marriage as she is afraid of what may be her fate.
“As I’m talking to you now, she is lying in coma in Medical Center Afikpo.
“And the husband is still bragging outside of the hospital to pounce on her immediately she regains consciousness,” the eye witness continued.
“If I see who can have the courage to report this young man to the police, then I would be most grateful.
“He does all these because his immediate elder brother is a Barrister and he brags that nothing can happen to him.
“So, I am appealing to well-meaning Nigerians, especially organizations who fight domestic violence, to come to her rescue.”
