Man denounces Nigeria after Canada paid him over ₦600,000 as COVID-19 support

A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to reveal that the Canadian government paid him the sum of $2,290 (Canadian Dollars).

The man identified as Japhet Ikuni shared screenshots of his alerts along with a caption saying, ‘Few days ago, we received a deposit of $2,000 from d Govt of Can Flag of Canada. Today we got another cheque of $290 as support.

‘Meanwhile, all Nigerian Govt could say was come back home and I will bear d flight cost.

‘Home ain’t where u were born. Home is where d leaders care abt u Red heartFlag of Canada,’ he added.

At the moment, the rate of 1 Canadian dollars to naira is 1:273.45.

Meaning, the government supported him with over ₦600,000 to help him cusion the effect of the pandemic.

Not just him, the government paid most of its citizens some certain amount of money to enable them cope with the harsh lockdown.

And not just Canada, several countries around the world paid their citizens good sums of money.

However, Nigeria promised to pay her citizens just N5,000 naira and made the conditions for receiving it very strict.
