minister, Farouq dismisses reports that she said “Igbos shouldn’t expect money during COVID-19 lockdown because they want Biafra”

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, took to her twitter handle to dismiss the report.

The reports claimed she said Igbos wouldn’t receive the financial intervention from the Federal government because they are canvassing for Biafra.

According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, they began the disbursement of N20, 000 to residents of Abuja on Wednesday, April 1st

This disbursement according to the government is palliatives to cushion the economic effects of the stay at home order in many states due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The giveaway is meant to be for the poorest Nigerians, irrespective of region.

However, Some persons went online to circulate statements that Farouq has vowed not to extend the palliatives to the South East region because they have always yelled for the creation of their own country, Biafra.

She posted screenshots of the viral messages on her Twitter handle and described them as fake news.
