Nigeria to partner Republic of Korea, Egypt for regional peace

Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd.), Minister of Defence, stated this while receiving Mr Intae Lee, the Korean Ambassador in his office, in Abuja.

Gen. Magashi restating the existing relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Korea said that the two countries have shared experiences in Human Capital and Development

He said, “To further strengthen the relationship, both countries are currently drafting a Memorandum of Understanding that would strengthen ties on Defence Administration and security matters”.

The minister is confident that Nigeria would use the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna as an avenue for transfer of Technology in Military Hardware from the Republic of Korea.

Intae Lee, the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, stated his delight with President Buhari’s handling of the security challenges in the country.

Mr Lee said Korea would be available to work with Nigeria to achieve global and regional peace.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Assem Hanati Elsieti was also on a courtesy visit to the Defence Minister.

He also expressed enthusiasm that Nigeria and Egypt can collectively promote the cause of regional peace.
