The National University Commissions has ordered all the universities in the nation to shut down amidst coronavirus fears.

This is coming after the Federal Government of Nigeria gave a directive that all schools shut down.

Now, the NUC has now followed in the directive of the Federal Government by issuing circular informing Nigerian universities about the development.

“As part of the measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus (covid-19) throughout the country, approval has been granted for the closure of all schools for a period of 1 month,” NUC’s deputy executive secretary Suleiman-Ramon Yusuf wrote.

According to the circular, the closure will commence on 23rd March, 2020.

Currently, Nigeria has only recorded 12 cases of the deadly coronavirus; however, the FG is clearly taking measures to avoid a spread that will be too much for the nation to handle.
