Okada Ban: Several Riders Storm Lagos Street in Protest

  • Several riders took to the street to protest the recent ban on commercial motorcycle & tricycle in some parts of Lagos State
  • Operators who took to the street were mainly affiliated with Gokada and Max.ng
  • The controversial ban is set to commence on 1 February 2020.

The Lagos State Government earlier this week, banned the use of Okada and tricycle in some parts of Lagos. As expected, this did not go down well with commercial motorcycle users who obviously make their living from riding Okada and tricycle

Consequently, some of the Okada users took to the streets of Lagos to protest and make obvious their grievance as regards this decision by the state government.

The protesters started from Oregon road to the government secretariat located in Ikeja.

The protest was peaceful, with several protesters carrying various placards.

They solicited with the government to regulate their activities instead of restricting them from operating totally, being that the business is their only source of livelihood.

Meanwhile, the ban is supposed to take effect from tomorrow, 1st of February, according to an announcement made by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
