An 8-month pregnant woman has reportedly cut off her husband’s penis using a kitchen knife following a misunderstanding. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1 in Tella, a village in Gassol local government area of Taraba state.
Police in Taraba State have now confirmed the arrest of the 32-year-old housewife identified as Halima Umar.
“I can confirm that we have taken the woman who cut off her husband’s manhood into custody.” Sahara Reporters quoted a spokesperson of Taraba Police Command, DSP David Misal, as saying.
According to the younger brother of the victim identified as Usman Umar, his elder brother Aliyu Umar was sleeping in the same room with his first wife, Halima when she woke up about 2 am and cut off his penis.
He alleged that she must have drugged him, leading to him not resisting as she carried out the crime.
He also alleged that Halima became jealous after Usman Umar took a second wife and since then they began having many episodes of fights.
“Halima had continued to engage my brother and his new wife in fights since their marriage about three years ago,” he said.
The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo for medical attention. He was then referred from FMC Jalingo to the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, where he is currently being treated.
