There are concerns all over the world over the potential spread of coronavirus that has so far infected thousands of people mainly in China.

As people around the world rally round to combat the deadly outbreak, an emeritus professor of virology at Queen Mary University of London, John Oxford, has provided some insights into how to control the outbreak.

Tomorrow being Valentine’s day will most likely see more people cuddle up close. However, Professor John Oxford warns people against doing that as it will help spread the infection.

According to the HuffingtonPost UK, he made this revelation while speaking to BBC Radio 4 earlier today.

He warns against several social activities that see people make body contacts including handshakes, hugging, kissing, etc.

“What we need to do is less of the hand-shaking, hugging, kissing and all that sort of a thing because this virus looks like it’s spread by ordinary tidal breathing, not necessarily sneezing and coughing,” John Oxford said.

“I think this virus has a weakness; it loves us to be close together,” he said. “It’s a social virus; it rather hates it in England compared to China, I would think, because we’re so stand-offish.

A few days ago, the World Health Organization announced a name for the new strain of coronavirus.
