The body of a 17-year-old Ayisat, who drowned in Lagos flood on Monday, 22nd of June has been found.

There was a heavy downpour in Lagos state on Monday. The rain resulted in a heavy flood which swept away a 17-year-old girl.

The incident occurred at Alapafuja axis of the Surulere Low-Cost Housing Estate, Lagos State.

The canal along Alapafuja close linking Bank Olemoh was swamped as a result of flooding.

Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), engaged in a thorough search for the body of the drowned teenager.

Although they could not find the body on Monday. They were able to locate the dead body of the girl at Onilegogo canal, Surulere on Tuesday afternoon.

The agency handed the body over to her community members who immediately buried her.

The agency had in their first message to the community, urged parents to always keep an eye on their children.

It also advised parent to restrict them from going out especially when it is raining.

Giving an update in the recent development,

The Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that they have found Ayisat’s corpse.

In a statement yesterday, Dr Olufemi said Ayisat’s dead body was later found in the Onilegogoro canal, Surulere, Lagos, at about 8.30am on Tuesday, 23rd of June 2020.

Furthermore, he revealed that she had been buried by the community members beside the canal.
