A woman identified as Hafusat Ibuloye has allegedly killed herself and her 15-year-old daughter Aduke to get back at her husband who reportedly abandoned them.
The woman who was based in Idumota, Lagos, reportedly woke Aduke up deep into the night before Thursday and gave her a cup of drink that contained snipper. Meanwhile, she reportedly gave her two other children the same drink; however, they refused the drink.
Aduke died before dawn while her mother was found unconscious by neighbours who subsequently rushed to the hospital where she died.
According to neighbours, the late Hafusa became depressed after her husband and father of her children travelled to the United States and upon returning refused to contact his family.
The neighbours also revealed that she bought the sniper she used in killing herself and 15-year-old daughter on credit telling the seller her family would pay.
Hafusat who grew up as an orphan, first of all, visited the old woman who raised her and said some prayers for her. And it was on her way coming back that she stopped at the shop where she got the deadly insecticide.
The Nation quoted one of Hafusat’s neighbours as saying, “Around 1 am, on Thursday, she woke Aduke from sleep as well as her younger brothers.
“She gave them something to drink but the two boys said they did not want and returned to sleep. She then woke them up, took them to their uncle’s house that was nearby and told the man she wanted to do something in the house.
“She came back woke Aduke and handed the cup to her. She just drank it and went back to sleep again. That was how she died.”
