The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 14 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus in Nigeria. As such, the nationwide tally has now risen to 65.

Out of the 14 new cases, 1 is in the FCT, 1 Bauchi, and 12 are in Lagos.

Three of the new cases are returning travellers, 6 were detected on a vessel while 1 is a close contact of the confirmed case, as per the statement released by the NCDC.

Meaning, 4 of the new cases have no link with a confirmed case or travel, although the NCDC did not outrightly state this.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria is planning to impose strict lockdown laws to curb the increasing spread of the deadly bug.

Lagos State has just passed a bill into law that will see violators of the covid-19 lockdown face up to 1 month in jail or a fine of 100,000 naira.
