A 50-year-old man in Lagos State has been charged to court for alleged multiple defilements of his 19-year-old daughter.
The rape which started since since his daughter was just 11 years old, went on for 8 years.
According to the spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, the suspect’s 45-year-old wife was the one who reported the matter at the Ikotun police station.
The 45-year-old woman had noticed that the young lady was acting disrespectfully to her father.
Curious to know what led to such unruly behaviour, she began to question the girl. It was then that she opened up to her mother that her father had been raping her since she was 11 years old.
According to the young lady, he threatened her and capitalised on her naivety as a young girl.
Bala Elkana who revealed that the family reside at Kajola Street in Ikotun, disclosed that the man confessed to comiting the crime.
According to PM News, the suspect has been charged to Chief Magistrate Court ll Ogba on five counts of incest, rape, sexual harassment, defilement and sexual assault on May 11.
The court hearing was adjourned until June 15. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in detention.
