Nigerian singer, Banky W, has reacted to Akah Nnani’s tweet regarding the rise in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.
In the tweet, the OAP tried to connect the rise in the COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to the arrival of the Chinese doctors.
The TV host, Akah, was reacting to NCDC’s latest announcement that 86 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.
He tweeted: “Since the Chinese doctors came, the numbers started soaring!!! NCDC!!! Wake up!!!! Gademit!”
Banky W replying to Akah’s tweet, implied that the numbers have always been worse than what the country knew.
He stated that the initial small numbers being reported was as a result of under testing.
He wrote: “The numbers started soaring because we have drastically ramped up the number of tests we are doing every day, bro.
“The true numbers were always MUCH worse than what we knew. We were just under-testing and under-reporting because of a lack of testing capacity,” he added.
Thereafter, Akah, feeling like his first tweet was misunderstood, tweeted again. He said his first tweet is not literal.
According to him, the initial tweet is an expression of his distrust for the Chinese government.
He wrote, “Look, my tweet isn’t literal. The doctors aren’t the reason why the numbers are up. True.
“But the tweet above is just an expression of the distrust I have of the Chinese govt. In my mind, They are at fault for everything,” he added.
Recall that yesterday, NCDC announced 86 new cases of the deadly virus. This brings the total number of cases in Nigeria to 627.
