The Nigeria Center for Disease Control has announced 86 new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Out of the 86 new cases, Lagos State has a total of 70 while its closest, The FCT, has just 7.

The 86 new cases are the biggest one day increase since the first case was confirmed on February 27.

This continuous increase in the number of cases is coming despite the fact that Lagos, Ogun and the FCT will be entering their fourth week of lockdown as instructed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, the death toll has now climbed to 21 while 170 persons have recovered from the deadly bug.

Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, recently released a video urging Nigerians to maintain social distancing because ‘prevention is better than cure.’
