Biography and early life

His family resided in Kano State prior to his birth. His mother went on a trip to Enugu state and one week before she returned to Kano, she gave birth to him in Enugu state.

After his birth, they returned to Kano State and he spent six years of his early childhood in Kano State.

However, in 1999, his family was forced to leave Kano as a result of a riot in the state. The riot saw his family leave the Northern state with just the clothes they were wearing.

Since then, he has been residing in FCT, Abuja.

Praise initially applied to study Law in the University of Abuja. However, he left school to go and partake in the 2010 maltina dance competition with his family – they emerged third.

Birthday & Age; How old is Praise?

Praise of the BBnaija lockdown edition was born the 30th of January 1992 in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria, Enugu State precisely.

So he is currently 32 years old.

Wife and children; Is Praise married?

BBnaija Praise is not married. However, he is engaged. He shared a picture of himself and the lady, showing off the engagement ring with a caption, ‘I am Thankful, She said YES’.

He has been engaged for over one year and he is committed to the relationship. They both have a son together.

State of Origin

BBNaija Praise is an indigene of Enugu State, Isi Uzo Local Government Area. As mentioned earlier, he was also born in Enugu State.

Career

Praise T. Nelson is a professional dancer and fitness instructor. He works with Ariya dance studio, Utako, Abuja, where he teaches fitness and dance.

The professional dancer is also the dance teacher for Funtaj International School, Asokoro.

Praise went to Jos for his dance academy. He spent two years learning dance and finished his dance school in 2012.

The father of one started dancing in 2005/2006 and when he graduated from secondary school in 2006, he was always dancing as a side hustle and in church.

In 2010, he got admitted into the University of Abuja to study Law; in the same year he was selected as one of the participants for the Maltina Dance Hall competition in Lagos.

Thereafter, he went to Lagos with his family to compete for the grand price. While in Lagos, his department was conducting examinations in school – So he missed one session.

Returning from the competition, he knew he did not want to study Law anymore

“I just knew that I did not want to study Law anymore,” he said.  Subsequently, he enrolled into the Mobile Dance Academy in Jos where he spent three years and graduated in 2012.

After graduating from dance school, he went in for his first degree and ended up studying Mass Communication.

He is certified in Latin and ballroom dance, zumba, hip-hop, afro beat cultural, although I major in Latin and ballroom dance, which is an official dance for weddings and dinners.

Other interesting facts about BBNaija Praise Nelson

It appears his family is made up of dancers, seeing that they all did not just take part in the maltina dance Hall competition, they even emerged third position.

Also his brother, Miracle Nelson, a dancer and was on dance with Peter reality TV show.

Moreover, note that he even left school to go and partake in the competition.

Praise has been to South Korea for the Kpop world festival competition and he and his group Pacific Stars, came out world champions.

in 2015, he won the dance competition in Nigeria and went to south Korea. Praise’s team the Pacific Starz of Nigeria won the overall Grand Prize of 12 Million South Korean Won ($12,000).

Praise Nelson’s Dance team; Pacific Stars

The name of his crew is Pacific Stars and they are a group of five young guys. The crew represented Nigeria in the grand finale in of the K-POP world festival in Changwon, Korea.

Their win in that competition made them the first African country in the history of the completion to win the grand prize in 2015.

The crew was in Korea for two weeks rehearsing, preparing their dance moves, learning Korean language because they had to perform in the Korean language.

According to Praise, “It was an all-expense paid two weeks trip which the crew cannot forget in a hurry.

Praise speaks on how much dance means to him

Speaking in an Interview, Praise talked abut how much dance means to him and how dancing ade him what he is today.

“Dance is fun; what I am today can be attributed to God and dance. Dance has brought me thus far and I am very convinced that it will take me further,” he said.

“I used to be a very shy person; dance helped to build my self-confidence; dance has helped me and even my family as a whole.

“Before now dancers were perceived to be unserious and hungry set of people, but I can gallantly say that dance saw me through the university.

“My textbooks, handouts, tuition were all taken care of by dance. I never had to run to anybody to sponsor me through school because I started practising professional dancing before I returned to school,” the dancer said.

He also talked about the benefit of dancing to him. According to him, nothing beats being paid while doing your hobby.

He said, “For me the greatest benefit of dancing is getting paid while I am doing my hobby; nothing beats that.

“Let’s keep in mind that a hobby is a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one’s leisure time.  

“Basically, inspiration comes from what you hope to achieve in the long run. My dance has always been moved by the burning desire to live my dream,” Praise tallks about is inspiration.

“Also, I love to see people happy, and my dance entertains and brings smile to the faces of my audience and students; that is a whole lot of inspiration for me,” he added.
