Reports reaching us confirm that British TV presenter Caroline Flack has passed away.

The former Love Island host took her own life, according to her family lawyer.

Caroline Flack stood down from Love Island after she was charged with assaulting her partner in December.

The statement released by the family lawyer urged the press to respect the family’s privacy.

It reads: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today, the 15th of February.

“We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time and we would ask they make no attempt to contact us and/or photograph us.”

The former X-factor co-host started as an actress before becoming a TV presenter. In 2014, she won Strictly Come Dancing.

The late star posted a message last Christmas stating clearly that she was going through a lot. She described the scrutiny and speculations as “a lot to take on” for one person.

In the same message, she declared that she “won’t be silenced” because she had a story to tell.

Several reactions have started pouring:

Piers Morgan described her passing as “sad, heavy news”.

RIP.
