The police in Lagos have arrested a boy identified as Chima for supposedly setting his pregnant elder sister ablaze.

According to reports, the sister, Victoria was two months pregnant at the time the incident occurred on May 14th 2020.

It happened at their residence around CAC Bus Stop in Okokomaiko, Ojo, The Nation gathered.

The report has it that Victoria, 20, allegedly slapped their mother after the woman scolded her for leaving their own house to go and cohabit with men.

Chima in a bid to reprimand her for her action picked a keg containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in it.

Chima, according to reports, was oblivious of the fact that there was PMS in the keg before hitting his sister with it.

The three of them were in the kitchen of their restaurant when the quarrel between Victoria and their mother happened.

Afer Victoria slapped their mother for scolding her, Chima hit her with the keg and some of its content poured out, unfortunately, some of it touched Victoria.

That ignited fire which left severe burns on Victoria who neighbours rushed to the hospital.

The girl was first taken to a nearby hospital on Kemberi road, Okokomaiko but doctors rejected her.

They referred them to Alimosho General Hospital, Igando where doctors confirmed her dead.

Chima who wanted to flee the scene after the incident was held by youths in the community who then handed him over to the police.

According to reports, their mother who attempted to put out the fire also sustained burn wounds on her legs.

Police spokesman Bala Elkana confirming the incident, said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba for further action.

Elkana said he was not aware that the late Victoria was pregnant.
