Following the political unrest in Edo state, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This decision of his is coming after a meeting which he had with President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday 16th of June.

He met with the president in Abuja, thereafter, Obaseki announced his resignation right there at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Recall that Naijahomebased reported that the governor was disqualified by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) from recontesting in the governorship election.

Prior to his disqualification, there was an uproar about the authenticity of Obaseki’s university certificate.

However, the University of Ibadan had come out to validate the certificate. Declaring that he studied classics in the school and graduated in 1979.

Furthermore, the university disclosed that he graduated with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.

Any time from now, the governor may be announcing his decamping into the opposition peoples democratic party.

In the next few days that would lead to the day of the primaries in both parties, we expect to see some series of drama play out.
