Nigerian singer and entertainer Erigga has explained why many marriages face difficulties. According to the popular singer, there is bitterness in marriages today because people don’t marry for love, but instead, marry who is ready.

“Do you know why there [are] so much pain and bitterness in marriages today[?] Its because 90% of women don’t marry who [they] love; they marry who is ready.

Indeed many marriages face difficulties in Nigeria; however, the divorce rate is extremely low compared to other countries.

Officially, just 0.2% of men and 0.3% of women have legally untied the knot. These figures are according to what’s documented by the National Bureau of Statistics. Moreover, only about 1% of couples admit to being separated even if they aren’t legally divorced.
