The United Bank For Africa, popularly known as UBA, is one of the most popular banks in Nigeria, boasting millions of customers across the country.
The financial institution also has a presence in several other African countries and beyond.
From time to time, individuals and companies are looking to create a bank account with UBA. In as much as you possess the right documents and have the right information, you’ll not face any problem along the line.
We’ll show you the two ways you can easily open a UBA account without going to the bank. Feel free to use whichever method is the most convenient for you.
How to open a UBA account using USSD:
- Dial *919# on your mobile device
- Enter ‘8’ for next, then press send
- Dial ‘6’ for next, and then send
- Enter ‘3’ for ‘Open account’ and press send.
Fill the form and follow the other instructions you find. After doing all that, you will receive an SMS on your phone containing your account number.
Occasionally, it might take up to 2 days to get the account number.
After opening the account, you’ll be able to receive funds into it. However, there are certain restrictions placed on the account opened via USSD. The only way to remove those restrictions to is to visit any UBA branch near you and submit certain documents.
How to open UBA account online:
Step 1. Visit the UBA account opening portal using https://aop.ubagroup.com/
You can do that using either your mobile phone or your computer.
Step 2. Select your resident country and click on ‘Submit’.
Step 3. Choose whether you wish to open using your BVN or without your BVN.
You can do BVN linking later on; however, if you have a BVN it better to enter it now in order to save yourself the hassle of doing BVN linking later on.
Step 4. Complete the form in the next screen
The information you’ll need to enter include Phone Number, Date of Birth and Email Address.
Step 5. Click on ‘I agree with the terms and conditions’ and press Next.
Step 6. Complete the remaining form and confirm the creation of your account.
