Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo had an interesting Live session yesterday with @reginaaskia and also Mr Attah on the other end. They talked about The current pandemic ravaging the world currently.
He noted that he want to correct the impression that it is Nollywood’s duty to do anything for Nigerians, it is the federal Government’s job.
He went on to compare the government of the US and the Nigerian. noting that as an American you are entitled to $1200 (over ₦400,000; {₦467,982.39 precisely}).
Recall that Naijahomebased reported that a Nigerian who received N600,000 relief fund from the Canadian government is on the verge of denouncing Nigeria as a result.
However, in Nigeria where the government coerced individuals and firms into donating funds for the COVID-19 fight, they can’t even reach half of its citizen with any relief fund.
Furthermore, the actor noted that billionaires like Dangote gave ₦2b, CBN gave ₦2b, Davido’s father, Adeleke gave ₦500m, among others.
Apparently, if 40,000 Nigerians that have their BVN’s registered are given 20,000 each, according to the actor, he said that would amount to about ₦800m. With any change left obviously.
“Doing that would have helped the government achieved two things which includes; getting data of Nigerians and helping Nigerians see the need of registering their BVN but the government will not do that and all the funds cannot be accounted for,” he continued.
