Infant below 1-year-old dies after contracting Covid-19; Believed to be the youngest death yet

An infant in Illinois, United States of America has died after testing positive for coronavirus. 

Although the exact age of the child is not yet known, the child is believed to be under the age of one.

Illinois Public Health Director, Dr Ngozi Ezike, reported that ‘There has never been a case of COVID-19 death in an infant,’ said

According to Dailymail, the child was among 13 new deaths recorded in Illinois.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Governor Jay Pritzker said: ‘Upon hearing it, I admit I was shaken. 

‘We should grieve with our family of state employees, with the many people we’ve already lost to this virus, young and old,” he added.
