Interpol has now confirmed the arrest of Nigerian big boy, Raymond Igbalodely, popularly known as Hushpuppi. Meanwhile, they also revealed that they are working on deporting him to Nigeria where he’ll face charges of fraud.
Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL, Garba Umar who confirmed the arrest also revealed that there’s a manhunt for his accomplices.
“It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL. We are currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud,” The Nation quoted Garba Umar as saying.
“Some of the offences were committed here in Nigeria and he has to answer for them. He is not alone in it; there are accomplices in the country who we are currently on their trail.”
Sequel to his arrest, Hushpuppi was known for an extravagant lifestyle and show of wealth.
Hushpuppi and his accomplices allegedly hacked into websites of several US state governments. Thereafter, they made false unemployment claims meant for people who lost their jobs due to the global pandemic.
Their fraudulent activities allegedly cost the US government hundreds of millions of dollars.
Incidentally, Mompha who used to be friends with Hushpuppi was arrested about 8 months ago for alleged offences bordering around fraud.
Following Hushpuppi’s arrest, several Nigerians took to his page to tag the FBI to arrest him as well.
However, that didn’t appear to go down well with him, as he took to his page to lay curses on those people.
Meanwhile, Hushpuppi has been trending on Twitter since the reports of the arrest emerged. Apparently, many people are already lashing out at him pending the outcome of his charges.
In other news, we reported that Hushpuppi’s ex-girlfriend is now calling for his release after previously sharing a message many people believed were mocking him.
