Kaduna Pastor Arrested For Faking His Own Kidnap

As of Wednesday 29th January, the Kaduna State Police Command said it arrested a certain Pastor for supposedly staging his own kidnap and demanding a ransom of N5 million from his family.

In a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo had said that the fake kidnap was organized on January 27th by two men

DSP Yakubu said the pastor, James Clement and his accomplice, George Otokpa, were arrested by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit

The pastor who resides in the Nasarawa Tirkaniya area of Kaduna allegedly colluded with Otokpa, who resides at No. 23 Aleri Water by Sarki Street, Kudandan. They both arranged to be the kidnapped and the kidnapper respectively

According to the statement, Clement “demanded the payment of Five Million Naira as ransom from his own family through text messages using the second suspect as the negotiator.”

Two members of the pastor’s family had earlier reported the pastor’s kidnap to the police.

Using available information, the police team was able to track and arrest both of them at their hide-out.

The statement continued, saying “The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court on completion of the investigation.

”It said the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri condemned such criminal mentality and cautions members of the public against such a “heartless and barbaric act.”
