Coronavirus: Anthony Joshua Self-Isolates having met with Prince Charles who tested positive

World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua is currently in self-isolation after recently meeting with Prince Charles of Wales who has just tested positive to coronavirus.

Recall that Joshua was at the Commonwealth Day, where he professed love for Nigeria. It was on that day he met with the Prince.

Although the meeting took place 16 days ago, Anthony Joshua is apparently not taking any chances.

Meanwhile, his spokesperson released a statement in which he confirmed that the British-Nigerian boxer is in perfect condition and not showing any symptoms at the moment.

AJ is at home following government guidelines, he is fit and well,” his spokesperson wrote.

“He wishes everyone affected a speedy recovery and a huge thank you to all the front line key workers.”

Meanwhile, The Champ has an upcoming fight against Kubrat Pulev at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20.

Pulev has expressed his desire to carry on with the fight even if it demands not having any fans at the stadium.

NCDC denies reports of 34 Coronavirus cases at Julius Berger hospital in Abuja

There have been rumours that there are over 34 cases of coronavirus patients at the Julius Berger clinic in Lifecamp, Abuja.

However, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has debunked the rumors.

NCDC took to their official Twitter account to refute these rumours.

It tweeted, ” we have reached out to Julius Berger clinic in Lifecamp, Abuja and they have No case as stated in this tweet, referring to a tweet that made mention of the 34 cases.

Coronavirus: ‘Stop Chloroquine use’ – NCDC Warns Nigerians, saying it hasn’t approved it

The NCDC has warned people against using chloroquine and its derivatives for the “management of coronavirus disease” as it has not been validated.

There was a sudden spike in the demand for chloroquine as soon as President Trump wrongly stated that the CDC had approved it for treating coronavirus.

The CDC subsequently came out to debunk that claiming, stating that they only approved it for trial.

Nevertheless, several people are still spreading the rumour that the drug is effective and have been buying it in bulk.

“Please remember that the use of chloroquine and its derivatives for the management of coronavirus disease has NOT been validated and approved,” the NCDC wrote in a tweet.

“Self-medication can cause harm and lead to death. Do not misuse drugs.”

Currently, the NCDC has confirmed 46 coronavirus cases nationwide.

In another developing story, the Prince of Wales and Heir Apparent to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, has tested positive to coronavirus.

Coronavirus Rivers State: Nyesom Wike Bars Entry and Exit despite recording no case

Amidst an increase in the number of coronavirus cases across various states in Nigeria, the Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has barred entry into the state.

He released a statement in which he revealed that the state cannot allow entry from anybody coming from the airport into the state.

He also stated that no vehicle will be allowed entry into the state and no vehicle will be allowed to leave the state.

Currently, there’s no confirmed case of coronavirus in Rivers State. However, the Wike has seen the need to block a potential spread of the virus into his state.

Recall that we shared a report earlier, telling you that the NCDC has announced 2 more cases, thereby taking the nationwide tally to 46.

A former two-term house of assembly member, Mfawa Ofegobi has respectfully turned down his recent appointment by Cross River state governor

Former House of Assembly member declines Governor’s appointment, says a younger person should be appointed.

The Cross River state governor had appointed him as his Special Assistant, health (Yakurr).

Mfawa Ofegobi was a former two-term member of the Cross River State House of Assembly.

According to the former house of reps member, the appointment recognizes his ability as an individual but he has chosen to decline.

He said that accepting the appointment will be wickedness on his part against the youth who need offices like that to get exposure.

He said this through a written press statement made available to Cali Town. It reads:

“I have been inundated with series of phone calls and personal visits by friends, relatives and political associates after the Cross River State governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, through his SA Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, announced my appointment as Special Assistant, Health (Yakurr) to His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade.

This appointment is one honour that recognizes my abilities as an individual and as a through and through party man who has enjoyed and continues to enjoy the support of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, our party.

“Regrettably, discernment and wise counsel makes it impossible for me to accept this appointment because after serving in the Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, for eight years, it has become pertinent that I concede political appointments like this to a younger generation of party people.”

“They need the exposure that comes with appointments like this and it will be sheer wickedness on my part to deny them this opportunity, ” he said.

“I thank His Excellency for this recognition and pray that he succeeds in his discharge of functions as governor of our state. May God bless us all, ” Ofegobi added.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has disclosed that he came in contact with both Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and Abba Kyari, Buhari’s chief of staff who have both tested positive to coronavirus.

The governor has also asked all his 35 colleagues to go into self-isolation and do the test.

Fayemi said he had done the coronavirus test having been exposed to two people who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Bala Mohammed and Abba Kyari, both having tested positive to coronavirus on Tuesday have both been quarantined.

Bala and Kyari were in a meeting with governors and ministers last week.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Fayemi wrote, “I just took the Covid19 test having gone into self-isolation since yesterday evening. I’m asymptomatic and feel well but I was in meetings with two people who had since tested positive.

“I look forward to an all clear and I have encouraged all my colleagues to take the test, ” he added.

Nigerian singer, Rudeboy, has been throwing some thinly veiled digs at Nigerian politicians these past few days. This time around, he has released a video mocking them of their inability to go abroad to get treatment from coronavirus.

He started by saying if money could buy life, the rich would be living and the poor would be dying.

He continued by saying, we asked you for good hospitals, you didn’t listen and now you all are scared. Instead, you go abroad for treatments.

It is no secret that the standard of Nigeria’s health facilities is below par. As such, several politicians, including the president have had to travel out when they needed to get intensive health care.

However, considering the health crisis the world is facing right now, travelling abroad for treatment would be extremely difficult.

Recall that President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has recently tested positive to coronavirus, and so has the governor of Bauchi State.

Meanwhile, President Buhari tested negative to the deadly bug which has kept the Aso Villa in lockdown.

Abeokuta Women take to the street to pray and chant against coronavirus (Video)

A video currently trending on the web shows some group of Abeokuta women who were topless and chanting songs about coronavirus.

According to an Instagram user, Soyombo Abayomi, who shared the video, the woman came out tying just wrappers to offer sacrifices against the novel Coronavirus disease.

“The mothers in Abeokuta, Ogun State came out today for sacrifices to send away Coronavirus,” Abayomi @yomisoyombo wrote. “may God hear their prayers.”

The number confirmed cases in Nigeria has continued to increase every day, albeit slowly.

Currently, there are 46 confirmed cases, most of which are in the FCT and in Lagos.

UK Heir Apparent Prince Charles tests positive for coronavirus

The heir apparent to the throne of Britain, Prince Charles of Wales, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Clarence House made the revelation today, revealing that he had been displaying mild symptoms but remains in good health.

It is not clear from whom the Prince contracted the deadly bug; however, he recently attended a meeting where the King of Monaco sat opposite him. Nine days after the meeting, Prince Albert of Monaco tested positive for coronavirus.

“The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus,” Clarence House wrote.

“He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”

“In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.

“The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

However, his wife, Camilla, tested negative for the bug. Meanwhile, both of them are now self-isolating in Scotland according to several sources.

One of such celebrities that have been self-isolating is the popular Nigerian singer, Davido.

Davido who had earlier into the month postponed his US tour over the pandemic shared a video of himself trying to fix his son’s toys.

According to the singer, he has been on that for over an hour, however, he is not making any headways.

He shared the video on his Instagram page with the caption: “Isolation don turn me to brick layer, been on this one hour no progress.”
