This is the most sincere government Nigeria has ever had – Minister of Health, Osagie tells striking Doctors

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has beckoned on the members of the National Association of Resident Doctors in Nigeria, to suspend their strike action and return to work.

According to him, this government is one that is sympathetic and keeps it’s promise.

He told the striking doctors to believe in President Buhari.

Furthermore, he asked them to believe the promises Buhari and his administration has made so far.

The minister said all these when he appeared on Channels TV Friday morning, June 19.

He said; “We have made it clear to them (doctors) that this government is the most sincere and serious government this country has ever had. His (Buhari) word is his bond.

“This government has a record of being sympathetic to people, of meeting its obligations and keeping to its promises.”

“This government does things differently. This is a government that says its word and keeps to its words.

“We would not do anything to hurt you. We work in your (doctors) interest.

Osazie continued, “We are going through a very difficult time with other countries and this is quite clearly not the time to add more to our problems by deciding to go on strike.

He continued, “I am worried that we are probably the first and only country where doctors have decided to go on strike.

Recall that members of the National Association of Resident Doctors are on strike.

They began a nationwide strike on Monday, June 15 over none payment of COVID-19 allowance.

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, Joins PDP after Dumping APC

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after dumping the APC through which he was elected governor.

Recall that the Party disqualified him from the primaries amid the ongoing feud with Adams Oshiomhole.

In the aftermath of the controversial decision, Obaseki disclosed that he wasn’t going to appeal the decision because Oshiomhole is the ‘Supreme Court’ of the All Progressive Congress.

Based on the message he shared on his official Twitter handle, he has now joined PDP.

“I have officially joined the @OfficialPDPNig to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State,” he wrote.

“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state.”

Sequel to this decision, he visited the Aso Villa and thereafter announced that he had quit the APC.

Godwin Obaseki became governor of Edo State on 29 September 2016. His bid for reelection in the forthcoming Edo state gubernatorial election has now seen him switch sides.

Chairman of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has reacted to the arrest of Ray Hushpuppi for alleged fraud.

Raymond Igbalode, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi, was arrested last week for offenses bordering on Fraud. Prior to his arrest, he had a large fan base on Instagram, with many people looking up to him.

According to Abike, the allegations against Hushpuppi is not a yardstick to judge Nigerians excelling abroad.

“The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission notes with displeasure, the cybercrime and money laundering network/transaction running into millions of dollars allegedly exhibited by Ramoni Igbalode aka Ray Hushpuppi,” the NDC had earlier written.

“We await @officialEFCC’s further and thorough investigation as well as further updates on the case.

“We advise and urge Nigerians abroad to be law-abiding citizens, be good ambassadors and not tarnish the image of the country.”

In response, Abike Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians abroad to be law-abiding citizens, good ambassadors and not tarnish the image of the country.

However, she urged people not to judge goodwill Nigerians because of ‘one bad apple.’

“Allegations against Ramoni Igbalode a k a Hushpuppi running into millions in fraud. I stress again, not a yardstick to judge Nigerians excelling abroad. One bad apple should indeed not spoil the whole bunch,” she wrote.

Hushpuppi was known for showing off a lavish lifestyle, leading Nigerians to question him for that despite knowing his hands are dirty.

Meanwhile, he has not been found guilty of the charges leveled against him.

Earlier, Nigerian singer RudeBoy took to his Instagram page to lash out at people who show off their ill-gotten wealth online.

Alcoholic Monkey gets life imprisonment for killing 1, Injuring 250 persons

A crazy monkey, Kalua, has bagged life imprisonment after he went on a rampage that saw him kill one person and injure 250 others, mostly women in India.

The monkey was formerly the pet of an occultist who fed him hard liquor regularly.

However, his owner died and he went on a violent rampage looking for booze after his owner died and therefore couldn’t meet his need.

Kalua targeted women and girls in particular with his vicious fangs. His attack saw him bite more than 250 persons, of whom one of them later died.

He was subsequently captured and taken to Kanpur zoo, India, and kept in isolation and under watch. However, Kalua remained aggressive ever since according to the Zookeepers.

“We kept him in isolation for some months and then shifted him to a separate cage. There has been no change in his behavior and he remains as aggressive as he was. It has been three years since he was brought here, but now it has been decided that he will remain in captivity all his life,” Gulf News quoted the zoo doctor Mohd Nasir as saying.

The six-years-old monkey “would harm” people wherever he went, the doctor added.

WHO Says Nigeria is close to being Declared Wild Polio Virus Free

The World Health Organization has revealed that Nigeria will soon be Wild Polio free. The Nigerian branch of the apex health organization took to Twitter to announce that Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio eradication (ARCC) has accepted Nigeria’s application to be declared Polio free.

In August 2019, The BBC reported that Nigeria had gone three years without a case of polio, putting it on the brink of being declared free of the disease.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that Nigeria recorded more than half of all the Polio cases worldwide in 2012, as reported by the WHO.

After going two years without a single case, Nigeria then recorded 2 more cases in 2016.

Since the last cases, Nigeria has now gone nearly 4 years without a single case of Polio.

To mark the achievement, the UN wrote on Twitter saying, “Today, Nigeria’s complete documentation for #WildPoliovirus free status was accepted by the Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio eradication (ARCC).

What is Polio?

Polio or poliomyelitis is a viral disease that mainly affects children aged under five. It invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis within hours

Initial symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, stiffness of the neck and pains in the limbs

According to the WHO, One in 200 infections leads to irreversible paralysis. Among those paralyzed, 5% to 10% die when their breathing muscles become immobilized.

Paul Okoye alias Rudeboy, of the defunct P-Square brothers have lashed out at yahoo boys who show off on social media.

According to him, it’s the show-off that exposed them (yahoo boys) to the prying eyes of crime fighting agencies like the FBI, Interpol, or EFCC.

Rudeboy opined that the older generation of fraudsters who he referred to as ‘their forefathers’, were also into fraudulent acts known as 419.

He, however, mentioned that the older men did theirs “silently, codedly, and with no show off”.

Unlike the younger generation of scammers who refer to themselves as yahoo boys and are all over the internet showing off.

“Una Yahoo Yahoo de shout anyhow, de show off de do anyhow,” he wrote to the fraudsters

He also referred to Instagram users as online judges that have finished judging them even before legal bodies.

He wrote: “See make I tell una… Even before FBI, Interpol, or EFCC catch una… Social media and the association of Instagram commenters don judge una case finish.”

He continued: “Association of Instagram commenters (A. I. C) also known as Amebo Intelligent Center, I just de hail una.”

According to him, fraudsters in the past are known to hide and not show off. However, that is not the case with many of them nowadays.

For the fact that their wealth appeared all of a sudden, many people on Instagram will assume they are fraudsters, only awaiting confirmation by law.

Former Big Brother Africa Star, Tayo Faniran, has lashed out the African race for being ‘wicked’ to themselves.

The visibly irate TV personality described how he had to swim inside water just to get to his place of work, consequent of the heavy flood that affected several parts of Lagos yesterda.

As a result, he took to his Instagram page to rant in a way that would have been described racist if he was from another race.

“I swear I have never had a reason in my entire life to wish I was a white man, but today i wish I could actually change my skin colour, I wish I could be a white man. Black people why are you so wicked? Why are you so mean?” he said in the video.

What’s worse is the caption, where he went on to say the blacks deserve everything that’s happening to them and that their lives don’t matter.

“Black man why are you so wicked?” he continued. “Black lives don’t matter. White people should enjoy however they want to treat us, we deserve it.”

He has since deleted the post. Nevertheless, copies of it have continued to circulate online.

Recall that NaijaHomeBased earlier reported that the storm destroyed the house of popular Music Executive, Ubi Franklin.

He took to his Instagram page to share videos of the destruction and thanked God no life was lost as a result of the disaster.

Dbanj rape case: IG orders probe of D’Banj

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has directed the police to launch an investigation into D’banj’s rape case.

Adamu has ordered a probe into the allegations of rape levelled against popular musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo alias D’Banj, by Seyitan Babatayo.

This is included in a letter with reference number CB.7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOl.484/801.

The Principal Staff Officer to the IG, DCP Idowu Owohunwa signed the letter. Addressed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

Tommy Ojoge-Daniel, a lawyer to Miss Seyitan Babatayo had earlier written a letter to the IG. So the IG’s letter came after Tommy sent his petition.

The letter written by the IG is titled, ‘Re: Petition Against (1) Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (Aka D’Banj) for Rape Indecent Sexual Assault, Attempted Assault on Miss Seyitan Temidayo.’

The letter read in part, “I forward herewith copy of letter dated June 5, 2020 received from Ojoge, Omileye and Partners on the above underlined subject.

“I am to respectfully convey the directive of the Inspector-General of Police that you treat. Accept the assurances of my esteemed regards, please.

Seyitan in a series of tweets in June had told the story of how D’Banj allegedly raped her at Glee hotel in December 2018.

Giving details of the supposed rape incident, Benjamin who spoke on behalf of Seyitan said it happened in an all white party.

According to him, D’banj had offered Seyitan money to spend the night with him. But she refused his money.

Notwithstanding, D’banj showed up in Seyitan’s hotel room around 2 am. According to the story, he collected the spare key from the receptionist.

However, the music legend has denied the allegations and asked his accuser to make a public apology and also pay him the sum of N100m in damages.

Also, the hotel that was mentioned in the lady’s story, Glee Hotel, has come out to deny claims that the rape incident occurred in their hotel.

But according to news making the rounds on social media, the music legend had sent some policemen to apprehend Seyitan.

The police kept her for over 24 hours. According to reports, the police were coercing her into deleting all chats, social media posts and other vital information from her phone.

Furthermore, they alleged that the police forced her into posting pro-D’banj writeups on her page.

Following these revelations, D’banj has been trending online. With several people and rights group calling for proper investigation into the case.

Also, several celebrities have been lending their voices to this issue.

In any case, fellow singer and former partner, Don Jazzy was under fire for his comment on the issue yesterday.
