A 22-year-old man identified as Ayokunbi has been charged to court for allegedly sleeping with a female pig. He was arraigned in an Ibadan Magistrate Court.
Ayokunbi was working in a farm at Eleti-Odo area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, Oyo state. There he supposedly developed a romantic relationship towards the pig.
The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that on the 2nd of April, at about 4 pm at Elewi – Odo, Ibadan, Ayokunbi allegedly had sex with the sow.
According to the law, this act is against the order of nature.
”The offence contravened the provisions of Section 214 (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II , Laws of Oyo State 2000. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence,” the police said.
Mr Mumin Jimoh, Counsel to the suspect, asked the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
Mr Jimoh said that the owner of the pig had forgiven the defendant.
The Chief Magistrate, Olaide Amzat said: ”if the owner has forgiven the defendant, has God forgiven him or (has) the pig forgiven him?.
“The law must take its course,” the Magistrate said.
In any case, Ayokunbi was granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was then adjourned to 21st of July for trial.
