In this post, we’ll share with you the JAMB and WAEC subject combinations for Medical Laboratory Science/Technology.

Also, we’ll provide answers to some of the questions aspiring medical laboratory scientists/technologists ask.

A medical laboratory scientist, also known to as a clinical laboratory scientist or medical technologist, is a healthcare professional who performs chemical, haematological, immunologic and other diagnostic analysis on body fluids such as blood, urine, and more.

If you intend to become a Lab scientist, one of the first steps to take is to know the basic requirements you must satisfy.

Basically, the O’level (WAEC, NECO, etc.) and JAMB UTME requirements for Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Laboratory Science are the same for most Nigerian universities.

Medical Laboratory Technology/Science requirements

‘O’ level subject combination (WAEC, NECO, etc.)

To be eligible for admission to study Medical Laboratory Science or Technology, you must score at least 5 SSCE credit passes, which must include Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Biology, and Physics.

In other words, the ‘O’ level (NABTEB, NECO or WAEC) subject combination for Medical Laboratory Science/Technology is English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

Additionally, your overall grade must not be below five credits in at most 2 sittings combined.

Read special consideration to know whether your intended school offers waivers.
