The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, is currently facing a panel over allegations of corruption.

Officers from the Force Criminal Investigation Department stopped Magu in traffic as he tried to move out of the Wuse II Annex of the EFCC in Abuja and handed over the invitation to him, The Nation reports.

The EFCC chieftain has now appeared at the Villa along with his lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo.

Meanwhile, the DSS has denied it was an arrest.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media,” The DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya wrote in a press release.

“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”

Magu is reportedly undergoing questioning at the Presidential Villa by a probe panel over alleged diversion of looted funds and assets.

However, the details are still sketchy as journalists were barred from entering the premises of the interrogation.
