Reactions as Enugu State Govt. demolish houses amid coronavirus crisis & lockdown (Photos/Videos)

The Enugu State Government has received a backlash from some social media users for demolishing houses amid Coronavirus outbreak across the country. 

The last few days have seen several state governments across the country place a ban on movement in their various state; in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

The Enugu State Government banned all social and cultural gatherings in the state including marriages; burial ceremonies.

It banned masquerade festivals, drinking bars, night clubs and all group sporting, recreational activities and also have shut down all educational institution.

The government have also directed all public officers/civil servants to work from their homes excluding those on necessary services including health workers; Forest Guards and Neighbourhood Watch personnel.

There have been confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Enugu state, making it the first South-Eastern state to record confirmed cases of the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the recorded cases and the lockdown order, the Enugu State Government went on to demolish houses and shops in Asata community.

It was also alleged that residents of the area were given less than 24-hour notice. 

Some social media users took to their social media handle to post some pictures of the demolished site.
