Controversial Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has alleged that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has died in Italy. According to her, he contracted the novel coronavirus that has so far killed more than 200,000 people worldwide, based on Worldometer statistics.

However, there are so many of confusions surrounding her claims.

There has been no official announcement, as it stands. Yet, #RIPNnamdiKanu trended for while on social media.

Kemi Olunloyo’s earlier confusions

Kemi Olunloyo earlier reacted to claims that Nnamdi Kanu was dead by saying ‘she couldn’t confirm the news.

Nevertheless, IPOP faithfuls who were disappointed at her for mentioning the word Nnamdi Kanu and dead in the same phrase lashed out at her heavily.

Then, the next day, she released another post, saying she did her research all night and even consulted Femi Fani-Kayode to come up with a resolution that ‘Nnamdi Kanu’ was alive and well.

What she’s saying now

For a while, rumours alleging that Nnamdi Kanu was dead went to bed. However, after her recent claims, it has been spreading like wildfire.

She claimed that she was informed by a ‘top military defence department’ source that Nnamdi Kanu died in Italy where he was also cremated.

Furthermore, she claimed that Nnamdi Kanu’s wife is in the UK and is reportedly angry at IPOB Spokesmen for “covering her husband’s death up” and not announcing.

Her allegations attracted mass support, to the point that #RIPNnamdiKanu trended on Twitter for a while.

Is Nnamdi Kanu really dead?

There has been no announcement to confirm the death of Nnamdi Kanu. His Wikipedia page still refers to him as a living person. Of course, Wikipedia depends on credible sources to update its pages.

In other words, no authoritative source has come out bearing the news of Nnamdi Kanu’s death.

Radio Biafra broadcasted live yesterday, 26 April and ‘Nnamdi Kanu talked live’. Moreover, his social media handles, especially Twitter, is still very much functional.

However, Kemi Olunloyo claims the reason he has not come out to show his face is that it is an impostor that talked in his stead.
