Senate Confirms Kingsley Obiora as CBN Deputy Governor

The Nigerian senate has confirmed the appointment of Dr Kingsley Isitua Obiora as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

Following a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions as regards Mr Kingsley’s nomination by the president, the Senate has confirmed his appointment.

Obiora was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate after a report from the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, following his nomination by President Buhari. 

The CBN took to their official Twitter to confirm the appointment, releasing a statement saying, “The Senate on Thursday, January 30, 2020, confirmed the appointment of Dr. Kingsley Obiora as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”

Other appointments confirmed by the senate includes “The appointments of  Zikrullah (Sikiru) Olakunle Hassan as the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa as the commission’s Executive Commissioner-Operation, Inspection, and Licensing;

Nura Hassan Yakasai as the commission’s  Executive Commissioner-Policy, Personnel, Management and Finance, and Sheikh Momoh Suleman Imonikhe as  Executive Commissioner, Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library.

Furthermore, the Upper Chamber confirmed the appointments of part-time members of the commission and they include Mrs. Halimat Jibril (Niger State), Abba Jato (Borno State), Garba Umar (Sokoto State), Ibrahim Ogbonnia Amah (Ebonyi State), Sadiq Oniyesaneyene Musa (Delta State) and Mrs. Akintude Basirat Olayinka (Ogun State).
