The Imo state police command has confirmed the killing of the Action Alliance (AA’s) senatorial candidate, Mr Ndubuisi Emenike in the Imo North Senatorial District in the 2019 National Assembly Election.

Mr Ndubuisi was shot dead by an NSCDC (Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps) Operative on Sunday the 26th of January, 2020.

The death of Mr Ndubuisi is coming a few weeks after the death of Mr Ben Uwajimogu who had also contested in the Imo North Senatorial District Election and had won.

The Police Spokesman, Mr Orlando had told journalists that the deceased was shot dead by the NSCDC operative during a celebration party held in honour of Miriam Onuoha, the winner of the Okigwe North Federal Constituency, under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress(APC).

The NSCDC officials had been attached to Mr Emenike as his escort and had, therefore, escorted him to the party.

According to witnesses, the escort was shooting non-stop into the air and unfortunately, a stray bullet found its way to his boss, Mr Emenike, who was unconscious before being rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC official is in police custody and an investigation is being carried out.

We recently reported a suicide bomb attack in Gwoza, Borno State that killed a 12-year-old boy and injured several others.
