• The customer watched the unbelievable display on security footage of the restaurant in China 
• He alleged that the chef had ‘spat’ into the cooking pan while preparing his food
• But the chef said he spat on the floor, not into the food

A customer in one restaurant in China has recounted his experience after he watched a chef spit into his dish while cooking it for him.

The diner who found a cigarette butt in the stew which he ordered from the restaurant gained access to the surveillance footage of the kitchen where his food was prepared.

According to the customer, he saw the chef ‘spitting especially’ into the stew.

However, the chef claimed he was feeling a tightness in the throat and then spat on the floor not in the wok.

According to reports from a local newspaper, Huashang Daily, the incident occurred at around 2 pm on Sunday at the Sufuji Restaurant in Xi’an, China. 

The infuriated customer identified as Mr Zheng stated that he had ordered the stew for his child but sent it back to the kitchen as a result of its poor taste.

Again after he got the second serving, he spotted the cigarette butt in it.

According to Mr Zheng, a waiter told him that the cigarette but had been left in the dish by accident. But Mr Zheng still requested to watch the security footage from the kitchen.

On watching the security camera footage, he was left in shock on discovering that the chef had been cooking with no face mask on and had even spat into his dish.

Mr Zheng said, “You can see in the surveillance footage very clearly that the chef bent down to spit into the wok especially.

But the restaurant claimed that the chef, Mr Wang, 22, had spat on the edge of the cooking pan, not inside.

On the other hand, Wang insisted that he did not spit towards the wok, that he had spat on the floor,.

According to him, he had been suffering from throat inflammation. He said when he was making the dish, he was ‘feeling uncomfortable in the throat’.

 Beijing News reported that the local market watchdog has launched a probe into the matter and directed the restaurant to correct its problems. 

Furthermore, Officials are expected to cancel the shop’s business license and issue it a 100,000 yuan (£11,460) fine. 

The restaurant, reacting to the incident said it was very ashamed and has promised to cooperate with the investigation. It also rendered its most sincere apologies in a statement.
